Legislation
DAWN helped to make it easier for non-partisan groups to pollwatch on election day. In January 2005, DAWN began to work with the League of Women Voters Illinois to propose and word legislation that would allow non-partisan groups like DAWN and the LWV (who were repeatedly denied pollwatching credentials in several Illinois Counties, including DuPage ) to obtain pollwatching credentials.
We are proud that SBO299 was signed August 17th, 2007, by the Governor. Hats off to the League for doing the lion's share of the heavy lifting, but DAWN is proud of the role we played.
